About
Sidetalking is the art of taking of a picture of yourself using a in-animate object as a cellphone, mimicking the video game handheld/phone, the Nokia N-Gage.
Origin
The actual origin is believed to originate from former Gamesradar editor, Christian Nutt. Nutt, mimicking the N-Gage's awkward design, took a picture of him holding the N-Gage like a real phone.
Spread
Sidetalking became especially popular with the invent of www.sidetalkin.com, a website dedicated to the fine art of Sidetalking. People all around the world started sidetalking. Atari's,3DO's, Mega-CD's, even with an SG-1000! But everything must come to an end, and in 2008, the final sidetalking picture was uploaded to www.sidetalkin.com. But with the invent of 4Chan, Sidetalking has gotten a resurgence in popularity. Will it be enough to save the meme? Only time will tell.
N-Gage
The N-Gage was a unsuccessful attempt by Nokia at a video game handheld which also functioned as a phone. The system failed against rival handheld the Nintendo Gameboy Advance due to several reasons such as a library of 58 games, stiff d-pad, the screen was taller then it was wide, you had to take out the battery to change games and most famously to use it as a cellphone required you to put it sideways against your head which resembled a taco attached to your head. In 2004 Nokia released a new version called the N-Gage QD which fixed a few problems such as moving the ear-piece to the face of the device rather then the side.
