10 People Losing Their Minds While Looking For A Job

If you've ever been unemployed, or even if you're just looking for a summer job, then you know the feeling of stress that comes with filling out job applications. Most of them, you'll never hear back from. As for the rest of them, you get either rejected or do an awkward interview and a bunch of aptitude tests, then still never hear back. Many of us are living in it right now, hoping you hear back from somewhere before your next unemployment check comes through.

If you're sick and tired of the job application process, these 10 people relate to you. They've also made some dark jokes about it to help you cope, and you can even see some of them lash out at potential employers, something the rest of us wouldn't dare do (are they brave, or just jerks?). To help you cope with this awful job market, take a look at the best posts from people living in this anxiety-ridden limbo.

Internships Don’t Count

The Doctor [412/724/301/703/415/510] @virtadpt Replying to @harriepw Interviewed at FB about ten years ago. Interviewer looked at my CV and said "We don't count internships as experience here, so let's just forget all of that." me: "Those weren't internships. I went to college part time and worked full time to pay for it." Dead silence. 8:28 AM · Jan 18, 2020 · Twitter for Android

Would You Be Interested in the Job You Already Have?

I Second This

Once per year, every CEO should apply to a job at their own company under a different name to see how maddening the process is for candidates. O0O 12,004 263 comments Like Comment Share Send

I would absolutely love to watch Jeff Bezos apply for a position at Amazon. It's even better if he gets the job and has to learn to avoid bathroom breaks and live off minimum wage.

Nightmare Scenario

Software Engineer Recruiter Your background looks perfect for this open role at our company. When can you do a 10 hour take home test and 6 rounds of interviews to see if it's a good fit?

This meme's been going around for years, but it never loses its novelty, since we all know that awful feeling of having to type in all the same information again, because apparently the employers need it twice.

Getting Paid Well Is Important

Adam Grant O @AdamMGrant Hey managers: stop penalizing job candidates for asking about pay. Caring about money isn't a clue that they're greedy, demanding, or disinterested. It's a sign of responsibility. People want to know they can support themselves, provide for others, and be compensated fairly.

Jumping Through Hoops

SURE. JUST NEED YOU TO TAKE 2 ASSESSMENTS, A TECH SCREEN, THEN WE'LL WANT 3 INTERVIEWS THEN MAYBE WE'LL CONSIDER YOU. IM LOOKING FOR ANEW JOB NEVERMIND, I ACCEPTED A JOB AT ANOTHER COMPANY THAT OFFERED WHAT I WANTED AFTER 1 INTERVIEW. TO PROVE YOUR WORTHINESS! NO000!1! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO JUMP THROUGH HOOPS

While this is pretty relatable, take it with a grain of salt, as it comes from the infamous sub /r/antiwork, which has recently self-destructed after a news interview with a moderator went horribly wrong.

Employer Gets Rejected

wmom 01:10 to Careers Hi Leanne, Thank you for getting back to me. Unfortunately, your inability to spell my name gives me serious concerns about your ability to pay attention to detail. As a result, I will no longer be considering your candidacy as a potential employer. Other employer candidates have shown greater attention to detail and numerous other strengths, so those are the ones l'll be going forward with at this time. Thank you for the time you've put into the opportunity to have me as part of your organization. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. I'd like to thank you for taking the time to apply. Congratulations; you've made it through the first round. Firstly, a word of warning – this isn't your standard recruitment process, because Arielle Executive's talent needs are pretty far from ordinary. Our Consultant & Writer roles don't exist outside of the context of Arielle, and you won't have the experience in what we do until you work with us. This is why we train our people in our methodology, framework, philosophy and process from the ground up. In this type of environment, we look for people who are hard- wired to learn, who demonstrate that they take on and implement feedback with each ensuing project, and, who importantly, love the detail. Also, we only hire those able to digest a lot of information to pull out the salient points. IInfortunately interviews aren't a good first nort assessment •..

Results of Someone's 100 Job Applications

Where 100 Job Applications Went 8% 2% 1 Silence 17% I Rejected Interviewed 73% Withdrew

The truth is, most job applications vanish into an unknown void, never to be followed up on ever again. This user claimed these were the results of their first 100 applications for a new job, and while sad, they're believable.

I'm Sorry, What?

I don't know about you guys, but I've never had an employer ask me to "take on high personal risk to care for the company." I can't imagine what they're talking about, and I don't want to find out, either.
