Gone are the good old days of just being served food on a plate at a restaurant. Even bowls are becoming obsolete in some of these fancy places. It is such a strange thing to be happening. It seems that restaurants are trying to one up each other by using more ridiculous plating methods and more inconvenient dishes to serve people their food. The reasoning for these obscure plating methods is fairly vague.

Maybe it is to impress the hipsters who need to be impressed by these artistic methods. Maybe it's so that people take photos and share these strange sights to gain traction, because that probably does work. Maybe it's just the chefs feeling bored at work and needing something fun to fill their long and busy days. Whatever it is, it is fun to see just how odd things can get in the serving world. From Reddit's /r/WeWantPlates (clearly the people are trying to say something), here are 25 dishes served in very funky ways.
