Gaming World Panics After Nintendo Appears To Cut 'So Long, Gay Bowser' From Upcoming 'Super Mario 64' Release
One of the Nintendo fandom's longest-running memes appeared to be put into jeopardy yesterday when Nintendo announced the upcoming rerelease of Super Marios 64, Sunshine and Galaxy yesterday.
If you know what you're looking for, you definitely heard it: Charles Martinet's "Mario" saying "Buh-bye" as he tosses Bowser in Super Mario 64 instead of the iconic misheard line, "So Long Gay Bowser".
The inclusion of "Buh-bye" instead of "So Long, Gay Bowser" may have just been a convenient way in the advertisement to transition from the 64 to Sunshine trailer, but seeing Mario throw Bowser into a bomb without saying the iconic line was alarming for fans who feared Nintendo may have retconned out one of the fandom's most beloved inside jokes.

People are upset over the fact they removed the "So long, gay Bowser" line, but actually, Bowser just re-evaluated his sexuality. Now he identifies as bisexual. Mario was, in fact, saying “Bye, Bi”

Some were upset that Nintendo also patched the Backwards Long Jump, which has been a goofy key to Super Mario 64 speedrunning for years.
Super Mario 64 in the newly revealed Super Mario 3D All Stars appears to be built off of the Japan-only Shindou Edition. It appears so as Mario's "So long King Bowser" line was changed to "Bye-Bye!". This also means BLJ is patched.

If Nintendo has indeed cut "So Long, Gay Bowser" from Super Mario 64, it will truly be a crushing blow to LGBT representation in the Nintendo series. Luckily, there's plenty of fan art to make up for that.
