Hollywood Is Now Casting Dead Actors For Upcoming Movie Roles
It might actually be time that we start calling Hollywood "Hollyweird" because this story sounds like a Black Mirror episode. Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that James Dean, who died in 1955, will have a role in the upcoming Vietnam-centered film Finding Jack.
So how exactly does Hollywood resurrect a dead actor? Thanks to CGI technology and approval from the late actor's family, movie studios now have free reign over deceased artists, unless their wills state otherwise. As the news broke out on Twitter, users couldn't help but mock the absurdity of casting the dead instead of the living, with many fearing how much weirder filmmaking will become as technology continues to advance. Wait until Martin Scorsese finds out about this one….

It appeared the casting director's choice was not for money reasons.
Fun fact: James Dean won't be starring in this film because he's dead, someone will just be playing him with a CGI'd skin, and also there are cheaper ways to get to the uncanny valley if you really want to go therehttps://t.co/ofka6b0xvs

Some even poked fun at the actors who lost out on a role to a dead person.
his expression in the picture is the same as every out-of-work living actor upon hearing this news https://t.co/oxJvDIDaaa

Who would have thought it was this hard to find a white male in Hollywood?
The press release was unsettling to several.

Some had fun updating famous James Dean quotes.
this james dean news genuinely reads as something from some funny alternate reality comedy from ten years ago

Valid questions were definitely asked.
That's not James Dean. No matter how good the CGI is, your movie does not star James Dean. He's not there reading the script. He's not making his own interpretations of the character. He's not making decisions on how to play the role. It's not him and never can be. https://t.co/w7zuBxb3cJ

The late actor's family also received some Twitter wrath.
Well this is… Intriguing? I can't even play the "lack of morals" card by the director, producers, etc because James Dean's family are the ones who sold them the image rights.Yikes https://t.co/vQY7RnXrzw

We would like to see it.
And this leads into my horror movie, “James Dean Violently Haunts Hollywood Producers” https://t.co/x0RKIHzB7Q

Other artists in Hollywood were quick to request that their image and likeness be left alone after they pass on.
Wild how stars didn't have the forethought to put "for the love of all that is holy please don't use future technology to turn me into some sort of astral projection performer in order to make even more money off of my fame I am dead please simply let me rest" in their wills.💀🖤 https://t.co/JO9QU0JjxV

While some had already jumped the gun and taken care of it well before they passed away.
Finding Jack does not have a release date yet, but we'll be looking forward to the other casting choices when they are announced.
