Don't let the spirited bops fool you, TikTok is still a mess of drama

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's new song WAP proved it's versatility on TikTok following it's already permeating existence on online. TikTokers fully embraced the controversial hit within a variety of subcultures on the platform, but not Medieval TikTok, they have their own jam that competed with the popularity of "WAP" this week. As for drama and controversies, TikTokers went all-in with the overdramatic parodies when the cursed Annabelle doll allegedly escaped her enclosure. They also rallied around an abused TikToker by spreading the hashtag #HisNameIsAlex and spoke up after discovering NYU students were getting inadequately fed.

The late summer hit WAP, an acronym for "Wet Ass Pussy," by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion has the internet up in arms. The sexually explicit lyrics surprised critics like Ben Shapiro who did an excellent read through that led to some amazing memes. On TikTok, the song quickly acquired a very intense dance. So intense that it landed some in the hospital. Others used the popularity of the song to sexualized the United States Postal Service in an attempt to save it.

Medieval TikTok

Jesters and Maidens have made their way to the platform this week after YouTuber Stantough's Medival-style cover of Shakira's 'Hips Don't Lie' inspired some Medieval Tapestry greenscreen TikTok videos. These videos had teens discovering their inner medieval peasant and caused the hashtag #MedievalTikTok to trend.

Annabelle Escaped

Late last week, a rumor spread on Twitter that the cursed Annabelle doll escaped the Loraine Warren Museum in Connecticut. Although it is unknown how the rumors started, TikTokers didn't care and rolled with the storyline by imagining Annabelle's fantastical excursions. The museum's owner ended up debunking the rumor but TikTokers will never forget Annabelle's taste of freedom.

A TikTok video of a mother deadnaming her son Alex and encouraging his followers to do the same went viral on both TikTok and Twitter causing many to rally around the TikTok cosplayer by spreading the hashtag #HisNameIsAlex. The video caused his mother to be fired from her job and CPS to be called. Unfortunately, all of Alex's socials were deleted and many are concerned for his safety and well-being.

NYU Quarantine Meals

As college students head back to their dorms many are required to quarantine and TikTokers have revealed that NYU isn't handling it quite so well. Students are being given lemons, rice crispies and sometimes nothing at all in their quarantine meal boxes. Thankfully students made enough noise on TikTok, Reddit and Twitter to receive a prompt apology from the University. Nothing like paying 80 grand on tuition for that sweet watermelon chicken salad.
