Twitter Honors Prince Four Years After His Death
Today marked the fourth anniversary of Prince's death and Twitter decided to remember the singer by sending the hashtag #RIPPrince to trend all day with people sharing GIFs, stories, photos, and videos. Many were happy to share how they honored the late singer and performer on this date four years ago, including Kamala Harris' husband, Douglas Emhoff. Performances from a George Harrison tribute to his historical Super Bowl performance where he sang "Purple Rain" as it down-poured in Miami received thousands of likes and retweets. While the singer left us all a bit too soon at the age of 57, his memory reigns on in 2020 where we all need a daily reminder to get through this thing called life.

Many were eager to share their own stories of how they first learned about the singer's death.
Prince died on this day 4 long years ago. I was on book tour in Oberlin OH when I saw everyone on Main Street suddenly stop, take their phones from their pockets, glance down, and start weeping. An uncanny moment. Thanks for all the beauty, Prince. pic.twitter.com/dM6jGRT6Wd

Just a reminder that Purple Rain is currently streaming on Netflix.

Cool story: while shooting the film “Purple Rain”, the director asked #Prince for 1 more song for a montage sequence. Prince went to work in his studio that night & came back the next day with the tune fully produced.Died four yrs ago, today. #RIPPrince pic.twitter.com/Pm2lrhgCTB

Apparently Prince even inspired Mortal Kombat_. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon discusses the origins of Rain, the UMK3 character inspired by a Prince record. #RIPPrince pic.twitter.com/qSmfNSqWrI
