Between Two Ferns Movie Coming to Netflix
Get ready, Netflix subscribers, because a Between Two Ferns movie will soon be between two mediocre stand-up comedy specials on your "Recently Added" feed.
Since Between Two Ferns debuted in 2008 on Funny or Die, the mock-interview improv show awkwardly hosted by Zach Galifianakis has grown into a cultural sensation that has hosted celebrities ranging from Michael Cera to President Barack Obama. The show sends up sycophantic interview series like Inside the Actor's Studio by having Galifianakis ask his guests inappropriate questions and improvising based on their responses. While there have only been two episodes of the show released since 2015, Netflix announced in May that a full-length Between Two Ferns film made by Funny or Die and directed by Scott Aukerman was in production. Guests and co-stars will include Brie Larson, Matthew McConaughey, Peter Dinklage, Chance the Rapper and many others. Yesterday, the first trailer for the film dropped.
The film appears to follow Galifianakis as he travels the country attempting to secure ten episodes of Between Two Ferns. Between the celebrity interview segments one can expect from the series, Galifianakis kills Matthew McConaughey, gets hit on by Chrissy Teigen, and hangs out with sexy Peter Dinklage. The trailer features lots of great wordplay, awkward silences, Galifianakis-isms and this very good still:
Between Two Ferns: The Movie comes to Netflix on September 20th, 2019.
