New Cats Trailer Ups The Ante On The Film's Weirdness By Adding Human Boobs
Remember the Cats trailer? Though it came out in July, it feels like a fever dream the world collectively had for about two weeks before we all decided to perish it from our memory and get back to the things that really mattered like Sonic the Hedgehog. While that trailer seemed like a bizarre piece of pop culture ephemera to never return, it was in fact for a real movie that is coming out in a little over a month, which means it's just about time for another trailer. And it's just as weird as the first.
Granted, we've seen the weirdness of the film's stars superimposed onto weird cat bodies before, so that element of the trailer doesn't hit as hard as it did on the first one. However, a surprising revelation this trailer provides is that the cats apparently have human boobs. Specifically, Taylor Swift the cat has human boobs.

Now, even if you accept the premise of having hybrid human/CGI cats, you must accept there is something off about this particular GIF. It's just so… intentional. While many of the cats are clothed, some are not, which is fine, as cats in real life do not wear clothes. The female lead of the film, Francesca Hayward, is also an unclothed cat. However, animators appear to have not spent their precious time on this earth giving her breast physics like they have Taylor Swift. Needless to say, Cat Boobs have been the hot takeaway from the film's trailer.
Why… How… Hold on… WHY DO THE CATS HAVE BOOBS?! https://t.co/SjJ1fbo6Ie

Furthermore, there are two cat puns in the trailer. At one point a cat says "What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" Which begs the question, why would a cat, even if it spoke human english, use colloquialisms specifically about cats? It makes no goddamn sense. It's the equivalent of a human saying "a human in the hand is worth two in its house" or "don't look a human being in the mouth." Rebel Wilson's character also pipes in to call herself a "crazy cat lady" which is marginally more acceptable because it could mean she is a "crazy cat-lady," but still, it's driving Twitter nuts.
Okay wait in a world with talking cats, is “cat got your tongue” just like saying “person biting your tongue” in our society https://t.co/SUcD9pc8Fb

YOU CAN'T SAY CAT GOT YOUR TONGUE TO A CAT. WHO IS THE TITULAR CAT OF WHICH YOU SPEAK. SHE IS THE CAT. THE CAT CANNOT GET ITS OWN CAT TONGUE.https://t.co/8Gb3KDElBy

"The most joyful event of the holiday season" it says, while presenting you with sheer horror and cats inexplicably saying "Cat got your tongue?" / "Crazy cat lady".This is gaslighting. https://t.co/F7hgYHLJvx

There are still four weeks until Cats come out, and I suggest we just wholeheartedly embrace it. Lets get a new Cats trailer every week until our brains turn to mush.
