Controversial Opinion: Save Scumming is Good and Everyone Should do it. Warhammer III EDIT: this title is designed as a retort to the phrase "you shouldn't save scum in a strategy game." Save scumming is another tool in the toolkit of learning strategy. Nobody should feel compelled to continue playing after a critical error has been made, nor should you feel the need to start over 100 turns in. In my opinion, and I repeat that this is my opinion, you should save before any gamble you make, every battle that the autoresolve says won't be an absolutely walk in the park, and before every war you declare on others so that you can learn from your mistakes and make the ideal decisions in future campaigns. Take a page from Tzeentch's book and explore all possible outcomes. And anyone that judges you for save scumming clearly doesn't care about your enjoyment of the game, only their superiority.

Doesn't play Ironman but still never save scums; only makes backup saves in case a save file gets corrupted. LAWFUL GOOD Plays Ironman so they can't save scum. LAWFUL NEUTRAL Plays Ironman but crashes the game as much as they can to turn things in their favor anyway. LAWFUL EVIL Only save scums if a bug screws them over or they make a simple but significant mistake, such as misclicking the wrong casus belli. NEUTRAL GOOD Doesn't save scum minor mistakes but will do it if things go badly enough. TRUE NEUTRAL Save scums liberally but claims they never do whenever they brag about their accomplishments on the internet. y f save scumming In video games: Manually saving your game over and over again (usually before important decisions/boss battles, etc.) to make sure that if you screw up later on, you can always just return to your most recent saved game. Used in games that allow players to save whenever they want, thus making the game substantially easier because there's no real penalty for messing up, and it lets the player know what to expect ahead.
