I hired all 18+ members of my team after no more than a one 30-minute interview. Here's how I assess what makes a great candidate: I focus on just two things: 1. They should have earned at least $1 from someone other than their mother. Salaries don't count. Sounds simple, but you'd be surprised at how many candidates don't meet that criteria. Most people have actually never made an independent dollar other than through salaries in their lives. For example, we hired our two first engineers fresh out of college. They used to teach coding to other students and get paid. 2. You should have played competitive sports at a decently high level. At the national level, state level, or anything like that. We have team members who used to play various different sports at a high level, like rollerblading and badminton. "But Arjun, what about coding or marketing skills?" Yes, they have to know it, but we can beat them into shape if necessary. Technical skills can be taught and improved, gumption cannot.

And now I'm back to work on my branded content and content production business. The Mrs. is off to work at her job in cancer research. Do we not understand work/life balance?? Yes we do. But we love our jobs, and balance is where you put the lever. Our wedding was under $200. So unlike my previous wedding/marriage - which put us in debt over $50k as newlyweds, my new union is about making smart business decisions, like investing in our home, and businesses, so I can serve/entertain/enlighten better. So we'll go out with friends after work, and have a honeymoon over the long weekend. But for now, I've got clients I ENJOY serving, content I ENJOY making and she's gotta cure some cancer!! (what's taking so long??) Reach out for a call after the weekend (and to find out why Michelle has that look on her face). Happy 4th everyone!

He has millions in savings. And he's done. Retired. He told me his dad recently died and left him a nice SUV. He didn't want to sell out of sentiment and was also trying to decide how to spend his life because he "didn't want his brain to rot". He drives for 4 hours a day and he told me: "It keeps my mind sharp. I would age much quicker if I wasn't speaking with wonderful strangers every day. I don't need the money but I love driving and I love the company." Absolutely inspiring. After that ride I'm never going to retire. CC 947 22 comments 1 repost

I've heard that he and his wife had started a business on the side. Once I learned this I asked him to quit. He was clear that he wanted to keep working with us but also wanted to start his dream business. ✓ I reiterated. You need to quit. He was shocked. He thought I was firing him. Which was completely the opposite of what I was trying to do. I was telling him that he was ready, had my support, and needed to chase his dreams. He was prepared to start his own business. If I knew deep down he was not prepared I wouldn't have asked him to quit to pursue his dreams. Keep in mind. Over the past 4 years, I had spent hundreds of hours training him and invested a lot into his career. At the end of the day do I consider building an employee up and encouraging them to pursue their dreams a loss on my end? Of course not. It's a huge win. The relationship does not end when somebody is not working for me. Doing the right thing for your current employees and future acquaintances is the right thing. #goals #challenges #leila #hormozi #acquisiton #leilahormozi
