I think a lot of the problems regarding quality and security would be mitigated by swift legal action. If there was a real risk of being thrown in prison or sued, I imagine people would be more likely to test their code before they ship it to end users. I know, I know- I should do a better job signing out. I know, I know- I should make sure I prioritize my own mental health. In Social is my baby and I can't even fathom not thinking about my company for one minute. How do other founders and business owners do it?? ![I hired all 18+ members of my team after no more than a one 30-minute interview. Here's how I assess what makes a great candidate: I focus on just two things: 1. They should have earned at least $1 from someone other than their mother. Salaries don't count. Sounds simple, but you'd be surprised at how many candidates don't meet that criteria. Most people have actually never made an independent dollar other than through salaries in their lives. For example, we hired our two first engineers fresh out of college. They used to teach coding to other students and get paid. 2. You should have played competitive sports at a decently high level. At the national level, state level, or anything like that. We have team members who used to play various different sports at a high level, like rollerblading and badminton. "But Arjun, what about coding or marketing skills?" Yes, they have to know it, but we can beat them into shape if necessary.
