No I mean not in the way of gameplay, that is scripted to s---. I mean in terms of experience. Think about it: if you see gameplay of Battlefield shared or moments that are memorable... then it's stupid s--- like catapulting a tank with C4 to let it blow up a Jet mid air, or jumping out of a plane, sniping the pilot in another, then hijack his plane mid-air. None of these things are either authentic, nor realistic. Yet those are what ACTUALLY defines Battlefield games. Or running on top of a burning zeppelin, just to jump down right as it explodes. On the other hand, however people want the illusion of an experience. Thinking Battlefield games are authentic and historic makes yourself look more cultured, after all. Saying you like Battlefield because of it's historic portrayal of old wars sounds so much better than "I just want to smash jeeps full of C4 into tanks". So this is the illusion these games try to sell on a surface level. But it's neither the actual soul nor meat of the game. It is these trailers that keep this illusion alive, as the illusion pretty much doesn't exist anymore once you play online. But the continued use of that marketing still makes you think it is serious and authentic, even though it isn't A compa wants to feel young again... honest. But it would enrage their customers. Because it's not the illusion of an experience they want to be sold Because of this illusion, you HAVE to make your reveal trailer appeal to the core audience, and their expectations of this experience. It is them that generate the initial hype and bring the game to the attention of even more people But the Battlefield V reveal trailer... it didn't show historical authenticity or realism... it showed the silliness and chaos happening during your average Battlefield match. This is true to the spirit of the game, but not what the fans want to ee. They want to see thems game.
