不过人间 (Bu Guo Ren Jian. Eng. But The World) is a song by musician Hailai Amu. The song saw usage in videos related to Chinese cooking on Facebook, where users parodied the song by mimicking the original video.
Origin
On September 13th, 2020, Hailai Amu released song titled 不过人间 ("But The World"). On September 19th, 2020, the YouTube[1] channel 海來阿木 – Topic uploaded the song. It received more than 2.4 millions in two years (shown below).
In late 2021 and early 2022, the song began seeing use in Facebook parody videos about Chinese cooking with bizarre ingredients or methods. For example, on September 13th, 2021, Facebook[2] page Cooking Food uploaded a video about a man cooking various foods with unusual ingredients. It received more than 131,000 reactions and 4,300 shares. On January 22nd, 2022, Facebook[3] page Amazing Food uploaded a video of the same man cooking a chicken with an unusual method. The video received more than 20,000 reactions and 3,800 shares in one month.
Spread
The trend continued on Facebook as users began making more creative parodies of the video, sometimes incorporating other media. For example, on February 12th, 2022, Facebook[4] user Kairagi Pratama uploaded an edited clip of SpongeBob SquarePants with the song to "LowRes MKUltra" group. The video received more than 1,600 reactions and 700 shares (shown below, left). On February 22nd, 2022, Facebook[5] user Talal Ahmed uploaded a video of Tom from Tom and Jerry cooking to "Tom and Jerry Cheeseposting II" group. The video received more than 3,300 reactions and 1,700 shares (shown below, right).
On February 16th, 2022, Facebook user [6] Aihana Leace uploaded a video using a photo of Gordon Ramsay with the caption "when your gf gives you blowjob and then she starts playing 不过人间". The video received 681 reactions and more than 1,400 shares (shown below, left). On February 21st, Facebook[7] user OmBayy uploaded video of himself humming the song while playing with his cat, implying he's is about to cook the cat. It received more than 1,300 reactions and 2,500 shares (shown below, right).
