Just when you thought Hollywood had run out of ways to ruin your childhood, along comes "Influencer Smurf" — the blue content creator nobody asked for but everyone's talking about.
In Paramount's latest attempt to make The Smurfs "relatable" to Gen Z or Gen Alpha, they introduced a vlogging village dweller whose catchphrase, "Smash that subscribe button," launched a thousand memes and probably made Papa Smurf wish he'd stayed kidnapped.

Here's a recap of why everyone's sharing memes and jokes about Influencer Smurf being canceled for a myriad of controversies.
Who Is 'Influencer Smurf' And When Was He First Introduced?
A trailer for the 2025 film Smurfs dropped in early February, with pop star Rihanna doing a voice-over as Smurfette, the only girl Smurf in the village, and introducing various characters.
While Rihanna's Smurfette leads the adventure in the film, it's the social media-savvy Smurf who captured the internet's attention, though perhaps not in the way marketing executives hoped.
Within days of the trailer drop, internet users revolted against this lackluster attempt at modern relevance proving once again that the internet can turn literally anything into a controversy.
Several internet users joked about how the character was canceled for various made-up faux pas, as seen in a February 7th, 2025, tweet by user @SouthpauzArt, who posted a parody of Colleen Ballinger's Ukulele Apology Video, gathering over 91,000 likes in two days.

Meanwhile, X user @gunga01to posted a meme about Influencer Smurf grooming a 14-year-old, gathering over 9,000 likes in a day.
Funnily enough, another Twitter user took this as an opportunity to make a parody account posing as Influencer Smurf, writing, "delete this," and raking in the likes.
