Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, went on a posting streak last night in which he seemed to sketch out, in his characteristic tone, his view on the platform’s future. In the most viral tweet (receiving over three million likes), Musk joked that he would buy Coca-Cola next and “put the cocaine back in.”

The “coca” in “Coca-Cola” does originally come from coca (the plant used to make cocaine), and Coca-Cola contained coca-leaf extract until 1929, although the effects of that extract are not as strong as the effects of powder cocaine.

Many users joked about who might be happy about the reinsertion of cocaine into the Coca-Cola recipe, speculating that people like Donald Trump Jr. might enjoy the new beverage, among others. But overall, the replies to Elon Musk's tweet about cocaine were … scattered.

Some people riffed off Musk's original tweet, proposing other companies the mega-billionaire could buy and other changes he could make to fix or improve companies or other things (such as Russia). Musk replied to many of these memes, reminding users that he cannot work miracles.

Other tweets by Musk seemed more serious in nature. He sketched out his view of what a “politically neutral” platform might look like, deciding that the metric to measure platform neutrality would be outrage.

Musk also suggested that Truth Social only exists because Twitter increased content moderation, and he tweeted a meme criticizing what he views as Twitter’s left-wing bias.

Based on previous statements in addition to these, it appears that one of Musk’s priorities in buying Twitter is to remove what he perceives as a left-wing bias on the platform and to make it more balanced.

Many users criticized this goal, fearing that Musk (as an owner) would amplify right-wing voices, and expressed concern that a single business oligarch holds so much power over a highly important platform for discussion and political discourse. On the opposite side, many conservatives have been praising the move in hopes that Musk's acquisition will swing the platform more in their favor.
