Today is July 11th, which means it is "7/11" — and thus once again Free Slurpee Day at the convenience store chain of the same name. As with almost every previous year since the tradition began, social media users are celebrating the return of the free drink.
Today temperatures will reach 111°F but it's free Slurpee day at 7-Eleven so it evens out.

Some posters, however, took the opportunity to show the more negative side of the Slurpee, highlighting its sugar content.

Unlike in past years, the free Slurpee in 2022 is only available for 7Rewards members and loyal customers. But, apparently, if you join the 7Rewards club, you can get a $1 Slurpee any day for the rest of the summer.

7-Eleven isn’t the only company doing a free giveaway that users are posting about either. Tomorrow, on the 12th of July, Subway will give away 1 million 6-inch sandwiches from a new menu the chain is unveiling.
Free Subway sandwich? Yes, please.
The fast food franchise will give away up to one million free Subway Series sandwiches on July 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. local time. https://t.co/oCAsWLnOii— USA TODAY (@USATODAY) July 5, 2022
Slurpee Day was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, but it has returned post-plague to bless all fans of sweet, cold beverages … as well as to bless the internet with memes.
