You Cannot Use The Double Gulp Cup For The Slurpee refers to a viral skit on TikTok in which a 7-Eleven convenience store employee with an exaggerated Indian accent yells at a customer for filling the "Double Gulp cup" with Slurpee. He knocks the Double Gulp cup on the ground, spilling it. The customer attempts to defuse the situation, fails, then kicks the cup.

Origin

On April 14th, 2020, @amitsphere uploaded a video to TikTok,^[1] filmed from a convenience store owner's point of view, where he approaches a customer filling a cup at the Slurpee machine and begins yelling at him for using the "Double Gulp cup" instead of the proper Slurpee cup (shown below, left).

The convenience store owner takes the proper cup and slams it down on the Double Gulp cup, causing it to spill on the floor. The customer asks him what the problem is, tells him he always pays for it, and asks if he wants to be friends as they continue to argue. The customer finally kicks the cup in anger, saying, "Look what you did, you made a mess" to the employee. The video gained over 958,000 views in 9 months, with many believing it to be legitimate.

The first words in the video, "you cannot," are cut off in the original upload. On December 27th, amitsphere uploaded a version of the video with the first few words in-tact (shown below, right).^[2]

The video is a skit, as evidenced by other skits on amitsphere's page, as well as several sequels to the Double Gulp cup video.

The video gained multiple millions of combined views through various reposts. For example, on April 17th, 2020, the video was re-uploaded to YouTube^[3] by Straight up memes, garnering over 160,000 views in 9 months. On August 16th, @krispykreampies re-uploaded the video to his TikTok,^[4] garnering over 1.1 million views in 6 months.

As the video and its reposts gained views, it became the subject of memes outside of TikTok. On August 23rd, /u/Jeremimoo uploaded an original 21st Century Humor video edit featuring a clip from the Double Gulp video to /r/comedyepilepsy,^[8] garnering over 1,100 upvotes in 5 months (shown below).

On December 25th, Nitro.iF uploaded an edit of a Gordon Ramsay video using the Double Gulp audio to Instagram^[9] and YouTube,^[10] garnering over 241,000 views on the former and 41,600 on the latter (shown below).

On December 30th, @amitsphere uploaded part 2 of the Double Gulp video to TikTok,^[5] garnering over 10.8 million views in just over a month (shown below). In the video, the same customer character refuses to clean the spilled Slurpee, grabs another Double Gulp cup, and begins filling it as the convenience store employee yells that he's going to call the police. The customer mocks him as he yells.

On December 31st, Jake Allen uploaded a video to YouTube^[6] titled "Double Gulp Slurpee Cup Full Video" consisting of both videos edited together, garnering over 1.3 million views in just over a month (shown below, left). On January 14th, BagelBoy uploaded a dramatized re-creation of the video using Garry's Mod to YouTube,^[11] garnering over 34,300 views in 3 weeks (shown below, right).

On January 30th, 2021, @amitsphere uploaded another skit to TikTok^[7] in which the customer character tries to fill the Double Gulp cup with the lid on upside down. The employee asks him why and he answers, "Why do you care? Why does it matter to you? It's weird, it's strange, it's different; I'm just trying to be different" garnering over 2.3 million views in 6 days (shown below). The video was re-uploaded to YouTube^[12] by Jake Allen on February 2nd, garnering over 760,000 views in 2 days.

The video has also seen mild popularity on iFunny, where users occasionally make WEBMs and GIFs referencing the video (examples shown below, left and right).
