Games Done Quick, the semi-annual speedrunning event which normally raises money for cancer research, held a special event over the weekend to raise funds for Coronavirus relief. The event streamed live on Twitch and raised over $400,000 for Direct Relief, which is supplying communities with protective health equipment such as masks and gloves.
The event featured speedruns of Super Mario Odyssey, Sonic Mania, Donkey Kong Country and others.
Currently, the next in-person GDQ is scheduled for the week of August 16-23 in Minnesota. It was initially scheduled for June but was delayed due to Coronavirus concerns.
Clips and full runs can be found on the Games Done Quick Twitch channel.
