Kylie Jenner trademarks "rise and shine"
The phrase "rise and shine" has had a long, deep historical significance in religion and the arts. It first appeared in the bible, as Isaiah 60:1 reads, "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee." It was used in one of the greatest monologues in American theater history, spoken by Tom Wingfield in the famous "Opium Dens" monologue from Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie. Now it is owned by Kylie Jenner.
After Jenner inadvertently started a meme by singing "Rise and Shine" at daughter Stormi Webster, the Kardashian family's remarkably shrewd business sense kicked in, and Jenner quickly sought to trademark the phrase. Yesterday, she did.

According to TMZ, Jenner's trademark "would cover belts, pants, coats, dresses, footwear, gloves, headbands, headwear, jackets, loungewear, scarves, sleepwear, socks, swimwear and undergarments … as well as cosmetics." Later that day, sweatshirts with both the phrase and Kylie's face in a sun appeared in Jenner's online shop and quickly sold out.
Page Six reports that Jenner is also trying to trademark the "Rise and Shine" jingle, which might be bad news for memers who have been remixing the vocal clip.
