Masahiro Sakurai Might Have Just Teased A 'Kid Icarus: Uprising' Console Port
Most people know Masahiro Sakurai as the father of Super Smash Brothers and Kirby, but he may have just given fans of one of his other projects a crumb of good news.
In a recent video on his chill YouTube channel, Sakurai delved into the difficulty mechanic in Kid Icarus: Uprising, a game where he was director, known as "The Fiend's Cauldron."
In the game, players can adjust difficulty using The Fiend's Cauldron, raising the difficulty to receive greater rewards and vice versa.
While the video is a good, informative watch, the headlines coming out of it have to do with what Sakurai said at the end:
“It sure would be nice to play Kid Icarus: Uprising on a home console. I wonder if someone out there will ever port it?”
This is so mean, Mr. Sakurai, lol pic.twitter.com/PuiljiAn4L

Kid Icarus: Uprising came out in 2012 on the Nintendo 3DS, and while it was generally well-received, it was hardly a smash hit.
The game was hindered by a control scheme that integrated the handheld's touchscreen, making the 3DS awkward to hold. Nintendo ended up selling the game with a plastic support system to ease the burden on players. A port to the Switch could iron out such awkward issues and expose a wider audience to the world of Pit, Dark Pit and Palutena.
So is Sakurai teasing that a Switch port is incoming? There's certainly circumstantial evidence that may support that theory.
Earlier this year, Resetera users noticed that Bandai Namco was hiring for a 3D action game described as a "remaster/remake." It's not inconceivable that Sakurai is aware a remake is in the works and we're a Nintendo Direct or two away from it being common knowledge.
Whatever the case, Kid Icarus fans have been given something to be excited about for the first time in 10 years, and they made their feelings known on social media.

If Kid Icarus Uprising gets a Switch port, you will, with no exaggeration, catch me screaming with excitement.
All this game needs is the ability to play it comfortably without snapping my wrists in half. https://t.co/LQPLn5JIPC— AntDude (@antdude92) November 23, 2022
Look, Kid Icarus Uprising is legitimately one of my Top 10 ALL TIME FAVORITE Nintendo games but many people couldn’t play it due to its control scheme.
If it gets a Switch port with normal controls, LOTS of people are going to realize just how incredible KI:U really was.— RogersBase (@RogersBase) November 23, 2022
