Matt Gaetz Wife Offers First Viral Conservative Review Of 'Barbie,' Criticizes Ken's 'Low-T' Among Other Things
The reviews for Barbie are in, and critics apparently agree: Ryan Gosling's Ken is a soy boy.
Okay, that's not true, but the first viral, divisive review for half of this weekend's blockbuster double feature did come from an unexpected source: Ginger Gaetz, wife of conservative politician and controversial figure Matt Gaetz.
Yesterday morning, Ginger posted a picture of herself and Matt in front of a Barbie backdrop and complained that the film "neglects to address any notion of faith or family, and tries to normalize the idea that men and women can't collaborate positively (yuck)." Other complaints include that Ryan Gosling's Ken is "Low-T" (meaning low in testosterone).
The review amused many on Twitter, particularly the dig at Ken's testosterone. The hairless, lean Ken doll has never exactly been a paragon of testosterone in the eyes of many, and complaints about Ken's "manliness" seemed irrelevant to the film for others (as well as opened the door for users to take digs at the supposed "T-levels" of her husband).
Another bizarre layer to the tweet is that Gaetz's pictures imply that they were attending a Barbie premiere ahead of the film's Friday release date. Instead, they were taken at the Aspen Security Forum, where the film was screened as a break from political talks.
Though Ginger Gaetz did not claim to attend the Barbie premiere in her post, that idea did spread on Twitter, leading some to claim Ginger was supposedly lying.
