Rumors Of A Sequel To 'Passion Of The Christ' Leads To 'Jesus 2' Memes Trending Online

For some, The Passion Of The Christ was one of the most powerful religious films made, showing the persecution and death of Jesus in previously unseen detail on movie screens. However, it appears as though the standalone movie from 2004 will undergo the same timeline as its titular figure, as a sequel movie is set to begin filming in the spring, much to the amusement of memers online.

As word spread of Mel Gibson's return as Jesus, the internet was quick to flood itself with different options for what the sequel should be named, with many memetic answers being offered up on Twitter throughout the day.

According to the plot of the movie, which will be titled The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection, it takes place between the death of Jesus up until his resurrection, giving Gibson plenty of creative license to go a little "extra" with it. The film currently has no release date but seems to be planned for a 2024 release.
