Serena Williams Posts Her First 'Bored Ape' To The Dismay Of Many After Husband Alexis Ohanian Gifts Her NFT

This morning, arguably the greatest women's tennis player of all time, Serena Williams, tweeted a picture of her first Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT with the simple message "GM" — a common expression among crypto enthusiasts for "good morning."

Williams' new pink, teary-eyed ape appears to be a gift from her husband, Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and an avid NFT fan. The Bored Ape was purchased by Ohanian (who trades on OpenSea under the username GoodKarma21) on January 5th for 117 ETH (roughly $450,000), who immediately transferred it to Williams' account. Williams' current profile picture is a Cryptopunk, which is also a gift from Ohanian.
Ohanian gloated about his good husband-ing in a reply to Williams, saying he'd "only gift her NFTs from now on."
First I get you the SerenaPunk, now I get the pink ape you wanted… you realize I'm only gifting you NFTs from now on right? 😃

Williams joins the likes of Jimmy Fallon, Post Malone, Snoop Dogg, Timbaland and many others in the celebrity Bored Ape club. Suffice to say, her coming out as an NFT enthusiast did not sit well with many of her fans on Twitter.
Never felt more betrayed on a thursday morning. https://t.co/U7rHabhEnP
