Tekashi69 Testifies Against Rappers And Gang Members
A reportedly trite and cooperative Tekashi69 is on the third day of testifying against members of his former gang, the Nine Trey Bloodz, as part of New York prosecutors' sweeping racketeering and firearms case. Far removed from his boisterous stage persona, the rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, identified Aljermiah Mack and Anthony Ellison, who were in the courtroom, as members of the gang.
Hernandez testified he became a member of the Nine Trey Bloodz in November of 2017 after striking a deal with the gang when they appeared in his video for Gummo. Though Hernandez testified he did not have to go through the gang's violent initiation and never shot anybody, he was accepted into the gang when members began to extort the profits he'd made from his music to buy guns.
Hernandez outlined the inner workings of the Nine Trey Bloods and its hierarchy, identifying Mel Murda as the "godfather" of the gang. Her further name dropped rapper Trippie Redd and Casanova and identified them as members of rival gang Five Nine Brims. Today, he testified that rapper Jim Jones was also a member of Nine Trey Bloodz.
At one point, prosecutors played dashcam footage of Hernandez getting kidnapped by Ellison. According to Hernandez, he was nearly whacked but his kidnappers agreed to let him go after he gave up his jewelry.
Meanwhile, Twitter users delighted in seeing Hernandez's snitching, making numerous jokes about what is often looked down upon in the hip hop community (Snoop Dogg even went so far as to call Hernandez a rat).
