One-hit-wonder jock-jammers Trapt have had themselves a pretty embarrassing 2020. In March of 2020, lead singer Chris Taylor Brown had a memorable meltdown in which he spent days sniping at seemingly everyone who was criticizing Donald Trump and his own band. Later in the year, the band performed at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic which may be one of the reasons the Dakotas have the worst COVID numbers in the world. Now, the band is wrapping up the year by arguing about how some forms of pedophilia are worse than others.

It all started when Twitter user @illtemperedcape, host of the small "Ill Tempered Podcast," posted a segment in which he roasted the group for their 2020 musical and social media output.

This attracted Brown, who would simply not stop posting, firing back at the podcast and every critic in the ensuing thread until he somehow ended up saying he would "give high-fives" to a 15-year-old boy who had sex with a 24-year-old teacher.

This set off yet another remarkably persistent tweetstorm where he argued against all critics about how this specific instance of illegal sex with a minor isn't as bad as other instances of sex with a minor.

There are dozens of tweets in this vein. The piece de resistance of Brown's big day came when he argued that by liberal snowflake logic, Brigitte Macron, the First Lady of France, is a pedophile because she met her husband, Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, when he was her student.

Meanwhile, Twitter user @hetherrfortune has been sacrificing their blue checkmark with an expert Trapt impersonation.

Thanks for the memories in 2020, Trapt. May you never stop posting dumb Twitter gold.
