The excuse Fox has run with in hiring MBJ was that they were trying to be progressive and to pander to minorities. The Twitter posts show that the audience they were trying to pander to absolutely hated the film, along with critics and everyone else.

Bear in mind, the Atlanta screening was attended almost exclusively by black people (which Kate Mara didn't even consider a "real audience") who said good things about the movie on Twitter – which it seems was a contractual obligation to seeing this stinker.
