Damn it, this comic was SO close to being a believable, touching moment! If you just changed her final dialogue to be just a vague but powerful "thank you" or something like that, it would have been the first 100% good page I've seen. Leave it to implications! She's thankful for being given something by her supportive grandmother, while also being 'validated,' as she said, by her preferred gender. If you left that to be implied between the lines of the dialogue and her expression in the penultimate panel, this would've been a legitimately good page.
At least the message itself is presented in a less heavy-handed way than the other pages do this timeâŠ
Why does everything have to be a test with this bitch, if she had said nothing at the end it might have been a touching moment. It almost feels weird that she doesnât spout a bunch of bullshit explaining to her grandmother how much it sucks to be her.
P.S. What 5th grader uses words like âvalidatingâ.
P.P.S. What 5th grader reads Nevada. Because sheâs trans she has to be reading a book about transpeople?
P.P.P.S. Nevada sucks
