It wasn't until he learned about Zamasu killing his family that he started taking things seriously. However, the arc ultimately ends with Goku screwing over everyone by forgetting the Mafuba seal AND summoning Future Zeno, which all resulted in Trunks' timeline being obliterated Now recent episodes seem to highlight more on toxic traits of Goku. Krillin was upset that Goku can be so easygoing about things. In this episode alone, Goten was notably trying his best to help his father be a more considerate person. Bulma almost got p----- that Goku didn't visit her to check up on her. Vegeta was very adamant about staying with Bulma, and perplexed that Goku can say things like "I was dead when Goten was born".
