I read the first two chapters to compare to the episode, and that was the part that really stood out. Fighter dude flashes back to talking with his family about the power of friendship, wizard chick graduated magna cum laude and the headmaster expected great things from her, monk hoped to uphold her father's legacy and fighting style. All generic fantasy trapping literally ripped apart and I fucking loved it.
