That said, you have a point. An element of the show I take frustration with is that team RWBY didn't spend enough time with each other before the plot ramped up.
Also, while I do like the subtleties with Yang's trauma holding her back somewhat, I think it could have kicked in during the fight and left her at a severe disadvantage (like having her machine arm ripped off; IT'S SYMBOLIC!). However, this fight will still leave a permanent mark on the series and the characters through Blake's broken weapon and her cementing her pledge to Yang, so we'll see where that goes from here.
What brings it together for me, however, is Yang and Blake both landing the finishing blow, because Adam represented a hurdle they needed to overcome on their path to be more complete people.
It doesn't matter anymore. I just wish that they give Adam some good character… something, and then kill him instead of wasting 2/3 volumes and then killing him(Like they did with my boi Roman). ;(
P.S- Like, if future existence in the show is only degrades you as a character, why should I exist in the show anymore?
