Popeye has blown out the sun like a candle. From Earth. I want to get some geek physicist like the xkcd guy to do the math for how much energy that would involve but it suffices to say that if you insert enough kinetic energy to the sun to cancel the fusion reaction you have defeated physics.

People in the Death Battle community refer to Saitama and Popeye as having "toon force", or the ability to do anything the author thinks is funny rather than adhere to consistent standards. Rodger Rabbit could defeat Infinity Gauntlet using Thanos, for instance, if him doing so was funny enough.

A note to people who ask the Saitama v Goku question, I want to point out that Popeye the Sailor is canonically stronger than Pre-Crisis Superman. All of the "Death Battles" about the most powerful characters in fiction are nonsense.
