Most of the sentience's bad consequences were caused by human manipulation such as Wily's, though. It is implied that humanity was living in an utopic society before such people said otherwise. Then again, that is also on the list of "should've seen it coming" things when it comes to AI and sentience, really.

> Dr. Light shots down Wily's double gear system idea in favor of his own idea of giving robots free will. Causing Wily's downhill journey to evil.
> Light and Wily creates the robot masters and Wily goes full evil scientist.
> Light upgrades Rock to Megaman to stop Wily.
> After lossing multiple times Wily creates Zero and the Zero virus with it and lock them away for future use.
> Light makes X. A robot with 100% free will.
> 100 years later Dr. Cossak find X and creates the reploids based on X's desing.
> Zero is found and the X series starts.
> The Elf wars then happen.
> The Zero series happen.
> The ZX series happens.
> The apocalypse happens and all humans die.
> Then the Legend series happens and ends with the last Megaman stuck on the moon.
