Hoo boy, I was in those threads and it was a real roller coaster ride with everything from the original tournament host having a breakdown and abandoning the contest in the semi-finals to the anti-SU crowd screeching about how Spinel's win wasn't "legitimate" because her movie came out recently. It was a total shit show at some points, but we somehow held out until the end. I'm glad that Spinel won and look forward to next year.

It's not just about looks. Spinel has a design that pays tribute to the 1930s rubberhose era, which /co/ is a sucker for. She also has a crazy sympathetic backstory which got her the protecc vote too. She has a catchy villain song, which is always a plus. She also bears a resemblance to Jenny Wakeman, who won last year, so she got the meme vote too. She really just had a bunch of factors working in her favor outside of her looks.
