Sometimes I look back at old memes, and it seems astonishing how much more innocent the Internet used to be.

While I've been onto it for a while, my country is only in recent years getting into meme culture, so they're still mostly on Impact font caption images.
Can't wait till they discover the ones that came after

I live and understand that reality all too well, dude. And, while I used to think about this as an inherently bad thing, now I wonder if we are dodging bullets with this. I seriously do not need local variations of fucking Wojak memes making caricatures of our aspects of life… I can stand seeing foreigners being dumb to each other just fine – you get used to it – but seeing my own country devolve from normie, yet harmless Impact font memes to strawmanning would be just awful.

Most of the mocking around these parts is done to politicians, as it should be, and I would not change that for any modern memes anytime soon.
