I frequent Idle hour often because its hard to find an espresso in town that's palatable and they seem to get it right. A few weeks ago, while ordering, I pulled my mask down to make sure the employee heard me say "decaf," and instead of confirming my order, the young guy proceeded to ask me to pull my mask back up. I was perturbed because there is plexiglass between us and he was wearing a mask. I obliged his request, got my coffee and left. Fast forward to just a few days ago when I returned to pick up Tepuy donuts with my special needs child in tow. I decided to order a coffee to go. Instead of the employee asking me if they could help me, she proceeds to ask me if I could put a mask on and if not, they have one for me. While, my medical exemption is no ones business but my own, I proceeded to let her know I could not wear a mask because my child has special needs. What I shouldn't have to explain to anyone is, my daughter is non verbal. Her safety and social-emotional well-being is strongly dependent on being able to seem my face for communication. She proceeded to then ask me what she could help me with...I told her I had a donut pick up but also wanted coffee to go. She told me would have to wait outside while they made my coffee- because I wasn't wearing a mask. Now mind you, their establishment is very small- social distancing doesn't occur when you take a seat. Their doors were wide open & me standing inside near their entrance/exit while I wait for my coffee was honoring social distancing more than their patrons sitting at tables and on the couch. I can empathize for small businesses who are trying to enforce the mandate to koon thnir doorc onon bhut whoro is tho ompathv for
