Using "x" works if you only ever use it in text, or if you're doing it for a name like Malcolm X.

"LatinX" is a cringy term, and for good reason. It's difficult to pronounce, and the gendered -o and -a could EASILY be replaced by "-é" to say "Latiné" Its prevalence, despite its disutility, shows how too many academics are working with a socially insular mindset which prevents them from appealing to the masses.
