This is reflected in the ongoing political conflict in revachol and the kitchen sink of conflicting ideas an characters that the player sympathises with and determines whether he has a future or not. The murderer was irrelevant to the personal stakes of the plot and acts as a foil to the politically charged world that he exists within as a forgotten revolutionary who was obsessed with Oranje disco dancer. emotional climax of the story is the dream sequence with your ex. the case ending was more or less to tie the plot up, a war is inevitable and doesn't matter anyway because the world is literally being swallowed by cosmic horror stuff. The plot will resonate with anyone who's ever loved someone and had them leave you despite still being in love with them. I imagine the reason this doesn't connect with much of /vl is that many here are unironically bitter incels. O Anonymous 01/14/21(Thu)10:19:45 No.540435109 ► >>540435961 >>540427939 (OP) The murder case is really just a driving point for the plot, and Harry getting a grip on his life again. The rest of game is just the response to the murder, some people are using it for their own gains, others are using it as an excuse to commit genocide and 99% don't have the full details and are just jumping to conclusions. But then again, the game also isn't really about those people and their problems either, they're just the background to Harry's most recent life crisis. Even though the murderer is never shown, he's slowly built up the entire game, given more and more details through the Inland Empire or trail he's left behind. He's given motives like Communism, Patriotism, Love, Jealousy, Revenge, and Insanity, the whole game is about building up the murderer so we can understand more and more about him. At the start of the game, you don't even know your own name, but by the time you reach the killer, you've been given info and context about every subject you need to know as long as your doing side quests and passing info rolls. Even Cryptids come back in a major plot point, in fact it's probably the most important motive in the story. I don't think Disco Elysium is the best detective game that can ever exist, but it's the best one I've played because I'm given a chance to gather clues when I want to and work the case in the way I see fit. He visited the bar to leave the flowers, he has to get fuel for generator, he has to get food to eat, it was absolutely possible for somebody to see him after the murder and it's frankly impossible for none of the characters you've meet to not have met him.
