Regardless of the sources, the statement isn't untrue. As players especially, women get an unusual amount of harassment in online games in my experience.

Opening your mouth in voice chat is a mistake for pretty much anyone, but I've seen firsthand the difference between me and my male friends, who just get autistically reee'd at and told to shut up, versus everybody in the game suddenly digging their mics out of their gaping asscrack to ask targeted personal questions to anyone even vaguely feminine sounding.

I've seen some really pathetic attempts at "conversation" in games like Siege, with a guy who really, really needed to know where this girl in the game was from because she had a "weird accent" and played all 50 states bingo until she finally, reluctantly, confirmed one as where she was. It didn't end there.

Most GamerGate supporters would never harass or rape a woman even if they had the chance, what happened in Activision Blizzard was caused by those male feminsts who love putting rainbows in their logos and give diversity prizes to themselves.
