Notes:

When you get right down to it, the entire history of China basically consists of it waging war against itself, except during those brief times when it gets curbstomped by an outside force, briefly unites to defeat it's oppressors and then goes back to fighting itself within the span of a few generations.

Such is life in the Middle Kingdom.
