This is one of those points that seems good in theory but almost never in practice. Because half the time I've seen this type of situation, the ideas to challenge were something like "I think gay / trans people announcing what they are is a problem".

I can understand getting angry when you've been told for the 50th time in your life that merely trying to exist makes someone you've never met uncomfortable. And I can definitely understand it if the other guy acts like they've won the "debate" because you didn't want to justify your entire life to them.
