Stop Caring Pepe refers to a 4chan post in which a user gives advice to stop caring and simply imagine Pepe the Frog raising a glass (a variant of the character based on the Great Gatsby Reaction / Leonardo DiCaprio Toast meme) whenever one gets mad, sad or experiences other negative emotions. Originally posted on 4chan's /biz/ board in October 2018, the post was widely reposted online and has inspired memes and references over the following years.
Origin
On October 31st, 2018, an anonymous 4chan /biz/[1] board user posted an image of Pepe the Frog raising a glass of champagne, giving advice on how to deal with negative emotions such as sadness and anxiety. In the post, the user wrote:
Stop caring. That’s literally all you have to do.
Just imagine this pepe everytime you get mad, sad, anxious, jealous, etc.

Spread
A screenshot of the post saw viral spread through reposts on 4chan, Reddit, Instagram, iFunny and other sites in subsequent years.
For example, on June 1st, 2021, Redditor AspiringCucker reposted the image in the /r/greentext[2] subreddit, where it received over 930 upvotes in four years.
The viral spread of the post was followed by users posting parodies of it, replacing Pepe with other characters and altering the advice.
For example, on November 20th, 2019, an anonymous /biz/[3] user made a post in which they replaced the Pepe with a photograph of Jeffrey Epstein (shown below).

On May 5th, 2022, Redditor Atlas_MK posted a screenshot of a 4chan post in which the Pepe image was replaced with an image of Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale). The post (shown below) received over 870 upvotes in the /r/greentext[4] subreddit in three years.

The post format gained particular popularity on 4chan, where multiple variations of it were shared in the early 2020s.
