I couldn't sleep on my back for over week and have tons of little scars from the experience. He didn't want to raise a "gay son". When I realized I was trans and bi as a teen, I kept it secret until after he died and was no longer a threat. Hearing from the hospital that he'd passed felt like lifting a thousand tons off my heart, and now I'm free to explore a world where I can hopefully be able to be the real me.
