You killed my mother Mae, you literally started a fire, the witches had their weapons drawn on us, and your mother was turning into a ghost demon! I striked her out of pure instinct! I thought she was trying to kill us and I feared for your safety. We never intended for things to end like that. All we wanted was a peaceful resolution, but the witches became hostile and made the situation worse! Still, I know I made a mistake, but that doesn't mean you can go on a murder spree!

Instead of this word salad, it could just as easily be reduced to "she was turning into a smoke monster and was turning you into smoke as well, you would literally be dead if I didn't kill her".

Sol did literally nothing wrong.

If they wanted that they need to actually put the effort in to write the story in a way that leads to that conclusion

The acolyte shows the Jedi to always be in the right and yet are branded as the bad guys because one of their order killed someone after they attacked them it ludicrous
