She could've even paired some handmade bookmarks or book corners if she still wanted to have handmade touch. Or even something fun like two copies of the book so you guys could read it together as your own family book club. I would love to do something like that my husband. Or if you guys have children, she could've included a cute coupon that she'd watch the kids for an hour to give you a chance to jumpstart your brand new book.
