Ditzy hummed off-key, blowing an elegant stream of bubbles into the air over his desk. She watched as they drifted, dropped, and vanished against the paperwork, striving to keep both eyes focused on them. Looking up as an errant bubble popped on his ear, Doctor Hooves smiled. C'mon." Balanced on back legs, she tottered next to him, offering the plastic wand. "You try it. "Oh, I don't know-I was a colt last time I-" Come on." She raised the bubble wand to his lips. "If you can blow glass, you can totally handle soap." With an eye roll, Hooves leaned forward puffing a gust of breath against the unsteady wand. A tiny spray of soap misted the air. He cleared his throat. "Er-well, so much for that." "Hey, I know what went wrong; you just need more soap. You just gotta try again!" She plucked the blower from between her hooves, dipping it in the liquid and lifting it once more in her teeth. She looked at him over the dripping wand. "I'm much steadier this way anyhow With a shy droop of his ears, Hooves sidled up next to her, soon finding that, to blow properly through the wand, he had to press his cheek to hers. "Oh, umm, I... Terribly sorry." "S'all right." She giggled at the warmth of his blush against her own. "Now blow!" With a deep breath, he exhaled, more gently this time. A single bubble quivered on the edge of existence, shivering free of the rainbow membrane to form a perfect sphere of fragile aether. Both ponies watched it drift off, buffeted on unseen drafts until it winked from existence. Ditzy simpered with unabashed delight. "That was pretty good-ugh! Pfft!" She spit the wand on the desk, tongue stuck out in disgust. "Blech!" The stallion put a hoof to his mouth, but couldn't cover the chuckle at her expression. She glanced his way, honest smile unabated, golden eyes aligning on him. "Sorry. Got soap on my lips." "Quite alright." The doctor caught her infectious grin. He found himself leaning in, basking in the radiance of her personality. Her soft scent, her softer muzzle greeted his nose, his mouth nearing hers when- She drew back, voice unsteady. "Whoa, hold on a second!" Hooves felt his heart drop, a chill of despair spreading in his chest. Ditzy, undeterred, grabbed his teacup, dumped the contents into her mouth, gargled, and spat the rest into his potted plant. The grey mare lifted his chin with a hoof. Her voice rang gentle as a spring breeze. "Sorry, just didn't want our first kiss to taste like soap." Her smiling lips met his.
