I think it's because we're right back to where we were before we were led to believe that the characters would be slightly more human than expected (if that makes sense). I.E., the even uglier semi-anthro toy designs are actually in the movie.

I honestly don't know how this can turn out good. The more we learn about it, the more horrifying it turns out to be.
