Society &Culture> Religion & Spirituality> Open Question Next I've just returned from visiting a friend, an atheist, I had lunch with him and his family...? hiniikken asked 11 hrs ago-4 days left to answer I couldn't help but observe his teenage children as they ate their meals. It seemed to me to be horrible that this man had raised his children in atheism. There seemed a huge emptiness in the lives of his family members. I felt like asking one 14 year old, "Whats the purpose of your life?" But I feared that if the child had thought about it too deeply, perhaps they would have harmed themselves in some way If I had asked, and if the child had answered, would it be tragic if the answer was the rhetorical "Life has no ultimate meaning, its ultimately pointless, we just continue living anyway until it becomes unbearable" Is that a sound answer from a growing child? Would not answer not depress you?
