I find this comparison to be particularly interesting, and fitting. Homura, particularly but not exclusively in the anime, as compared to the movie, embraced pain and provided wisdom to those around her. Homura was willing to die for Madoka, or even suffer infinite torment just for her to see a gleam of hope.

This is where the comparison stops being accurate. Jesus died for an ideal and for the concept of god as a benevolent, loving diety, as compared to the forceful image presented by the old testament, while Homura fought for Madoka and only Madoka, having coincidence bring a blessing on the world. Jesus took on the world's pain and suffering by dying, and proving resilience by being resurrected, while Homura instead embraced the world's evil as a part of herself, declaring the infection of ill will she suffered to all around her, and accepted the infection in the first place by acknowledging that Madoka's good deeds must be met by an equal and opposite force.

The way I see it is that their will is portrayed as equal, but the goals and fruits of their efforts are why they vary so greatly. I find it interesting that Homura consumed part of Madoka's power, and therefore is partly Madoka, while Jesus is said to be a part of the trinity that is the one entity of god.
