Gaia Online keeps track of the amount of gold (the site's virtual currency) that is removed from circulation through the marketplace tax (taken from all successful sales in the marketplace). This particular graph, for instance, shows the sudden influx of gold into circulation immediately after the release of "Flynn's Booty".
